Wealthy old Auguste Caspar Snellen, the legendary "Pea King", is long gone, but his greatest legacy lives on: the Snellen Museum, an institution dedicated to the glorification of local lore and legumes. Diesmal ein Augen-, Ohren- und Hirnschmaus für alle "Erbsenzähler" und Gemüse-Kenner. Um den verwickelten Pfaden der Handlung folgen zu können, muß man sich, wie so oft bei Autorin Churchill, einfach treiben lassen - das Vertrauen darauf, daß sich spätestens im letzten Kapitel alle Fäden entwirren, alle Puzzle-Teile zu einem logischen Ganzen zusammenfinden werden, wird auch hier nicht enttäuscht.
Und wieder gibt es einiges dazuzulernen - diesmal aus Botanik und Geschichte gleichermaßen....
